To Make a Long Story Short

To Make a Long Story Short

Anna Frants
From the series Simple Pleasures
Installation, 2024
Kineographs, robotics, mixed media
Engineers: Philipp Avetisov, Eugene Pavlov, Eugene Ovsyannikov, Dmitry Shirokov
Supported by CYLAND MediaArtLab

To Make a Long Story Short brings photographic memory into motion through automated kineographs. The work draws on Frants’s experience of developing, copying and retouching photographs after moving to the United States, and on the lasting impressions left by the anonymous portraits that passed through her hands.
